The 16-0play Rating System
The 16-0play simulation engine uses a dynamic rating system designed to mirror the complexities of real cricket. Ratings are not static numbers; they interact with team composition, match conditions, and player form to determine the outcome of every match.
Base Player Ratings & Star Stacking
Every player in the database is assigned a base rating between 70 and 99. This rating is derived from their historical performances, peak statistical seasons, and their impact in the specific role they play.
- 90+ (Elite): Legendary, match-winning icons capable of carrying a team.
- 80-89 (Star): Premium talent necessary for consistent victories.
- 70-79 (Role Player): Reliable squad members who provide vital balance and depth.
Star Stacking Penalty: The engine penalizes top-heavy teams to encourage balance. Having more than two 92+ rated players incurs a team-wide penalty. Having more than one 95+ rated player incurs an additional heavy penalty. Furthermore, any overall team strength that exceeds 90 receives a 50% diminishing return penalty on the excess points.
Team Chemistry & Rivalries
Matching specific players together can either boost your team's performance or create friction:
- Signature Pairs (+1 Bonus): Reuniting iconic duos like Virat Kohli & AB de Villiers or MS Dhoni & Suresh Raina provides a chemistry boost to your overall team strength.
- Rivalry Penalty (-1 Penalty): Pairing players with historic rivalries (e.g. Virat Kohli & Gautam Gambhir) will actively harm your team's synergy.
Identity & Franchise Core Bonuses
The engine rewards teams that establish a clear tactical identity or maintain a franchise core:
- Tactical Identities: Fielding 7+ Batters/Wicketkeepers grants a Batting-Heavy bonus. Fielding 5+ Bowlers grants a Bowling-Heavy bonus. Fielding 4+ All-Rounders creates an All-Rounder Army.
- Franchise Core: Selecting 3 or more players from the same original franchise provides a +1 chemistry bonus, and 5 or more players provides a +2 bonus.
- Overseas Quality Limit: While you are strictly limited to a maximum of 4 overseas players on the field, the engine applies a slight progressive penalty if you field 2 or more overseas players, simulating the challenge of integrating multiple international stars.
Dynamic Form System
In 16-0play, a player's base rating is only the starting point. The engine calculates an active Form Score (represented by sparklines on player profiles) that adjusts their effective rating up or down for the next match.
- Hot Streaks: Consistent high performances boost a player's form, pushing their effective rating past their base maximum. A team on a massive winning streak (e.g. 12+ games) enters "Dynasty Mode", granting massive momentum bonuses.
- Slumps: Successive poor matches will drop a player's form, making them a liability against elite opponents.
Match Simulation Logic
When two teams meet, the engine calculates the expected win probability by weighing the adjusted team ratings against each other.
However, cricket is unpredictable. The engine incorporates controlled variance (representing pitch conditions, weather, and pure luck) to ensure that upsets are always possible. Furthermore, tight matches (40-60% win probability) can trigger "Clutch Player" events where individuals single-handedly flip the result. A team with a 95 overall rating can still lose to an 85 overall team if the form, risk profile, and variance fall the wrong way—which is what makes the 16-0 challenge so incredibly difficult.
